ETA and eVisa Eligible Countries.

1. ETAs for stay up to three months.

Holders of Italian passports and certain other countries and territories should obtain their Electronic Travel Authority (ETA) on line or from their travel agent.

You may obtain your own ETA on the Internet on www.eta.immi.gov.au

Most travel agents in Italy and some airlines may also issue ETAs.

2. eVisas for stay up to six or twelve months.

If you wish to stay for more than three months (up to 6 or 12 months) you will apply on-line by visiting the following website www.immi.gov.au, selecting “Visitor Visas”

3. If you are not eVisa eligible please provide the following documents:

Prepare your application in accordance with the information provided below and send it to our office by registered mail. Please ensure you send a complete and well documented application. This will expedite processing.

• Visa application charge € 65 (Euros) payable by certified cheque (assegno circolare) issued by the bank and payable to The Australian Embassy – Rome or L'Ambasciata d'Australia, Roma. Note that credit cards, direct deposit/eftpos/bancomat cards and postal money orders (vaglia postali) cannot be accepted for payment by this office. DO NOT SEND CASH IN THE MAIL

• Form 48R duly filled and signed (www.immi.gov.au)

• Modulo 80 duly filled and signed (www.immi.gov.au)

• Letter showing evidence of your preliminary booking by your travel agent

• Letter from your employer approving your absence from work

• Bank statement showing recent balance in your account.

• Original and valid stay of permit in Italy (You must provide an original document and a photocopy as we do not provide photocopying services.)

• Invitation letter from a relative or friend in Australia confirming all your travel details (if applicable).

• Medical Certificate for Applicants over 70 years of age. You can request the Proforma available from this office (immigration.rome@dfat.gov.au)

• Original and Valid passport.

• For applicants under 18 years of age: a written authorization permitting travel from both parents (or a legal guardian) is required. If one parent is travelling with a child under 18 years of age this written authorization must be provided by the other parent. This legal document must be certified by a Justice of the Peace.

• Self addressed stamped envelope with EURO 4.05 stamps for return of your passport by registered mail.
